Masterworks Singers in Exile, Week 1
Captain's Log
Stardate: Exile from Choral Singing and Togetherness, Day 3
The Coronavirus has brought face to face human interaction with Masterworks singers to a halt, but it has not crushed our spirit. We will continue to communicate with each other, and we will continue to find something to laugh about every day. This forced isolation has provided us all with some extra time for needed rest and reflection, and I find that my spirits are good despite an entire Monday night without my favorite 100 friends. My chief medical officer is monitoring me closely for signs of humming sad songs or a lack of skipping which would indicate the onset of loneliness. This must be avoided at all costs lest I am rendered incapable of carrying out my ditties. I mean duties.
So far, supplies of chocolate and toilet paper are holding steady. A Costco excursion will inevitably be required some future day. I can only hope there will still be chocolate when that day comes. My Amazon hazmat suit will protect me from all environmental substances like sunshine and children should a grocery run become necessary before COVID-19 has been eradicated. Thankfully, my starship training included watching zombie apocalypse movies, reading dystopian novels, and playing Pandemic, so I know what's what.
Just like many of you, I'm trying to keep up with the news of the day. Even with all the anxiety about this virus, I keep hearing about people who have chosen this time to take a 14-day vacation from work. Strangely, everyone seems to be going to the same South American country, Quarantina. It must be one of the few low risk countries to which one can still travel. My commander won't grant me leave for this vacation unless I have a cough. Curious.
It has come to my attention that some in the Masterworks quadrant are not yet part of the MWCbuzz Google group used for remote communication during forced exiles. This secure channel can be accessed by contacting Steph at steph.ogrady@masterworks.org to join the group. Members of the MWCbuzz group can email postings to mwcbuzz@googlegroups.com using their gmail account, and the MWCbuzz page can be viewed at http://groups.google.com/group/mwcbuzz.
This is your captain speaking. Do not fail to express yourselves by any means available to you.
Until next week,
